For an existing building undergoing major renovation how should the existing water fixtures be handled as far as WE prerequisite is concerned? Could existing fixtures if outside the scope of renovation be excluded from the calculations? Accordingly, should only fixtures to be upgraded and hence within the scope of renovation be included in the calculations? Thank you in advance.

I have the same question. Is it a matter of setting a project boundary that doesn't include the excluded the plumbing fixture?

As per 05/09/2011 for “additions to existing buildings, only the fixtures within the project scope must be counted for the prerequisite. To earn points under WE credit 3, all fixtures necessary to meet the needs of the addition occupants must be included, even if they are located within the existing building.” However, this addenda is not clear whether the “project scope” refers to the addition only or the entire building.
And if it is a matter of setting a project boundary, could the LEED boundary which includes an existing building undergoing major renovation exclude the existing fixtures which are located within that building shell? Obviously, this problem refers to the flush fixtures only since flow fixtures can be easily renovated.
