Healthcare-v2009 MRc2:Construction waste management

Existing building demolition

I work for a construction company that is building a new hospital for a client. There is an existing hotel on the site that is going to be demolished by others under a separate contract to clear the site. Does this demolition debris need to be included in our totals for construction waste?

I have this same question. I'm sure someone has ran into this previously. Any input on past experiences is appreciated.

I've done this before and I've tracked it. Because they are separate contracts, you have separate documentation trails and can add them together easily. There is a USGBC document out there that describes site areas to be included as any prep work needing to be done to the site to build the project needs to be included. However, I had a later conversation with representative of GBCI and USGBC where I described the tracking and site issues where that definition complicated documentation of many credits including this one. The conversation happened after the documentation was done but the comment from the USGBC rep was along the lines of 'I don't believe we meant it to be this encompassing'. It can't hurt to reach out to the USGBC and discuss the issue. It also can't hurt to track the demo.
