Hello,
I am going to be modeling an existing building for 2009 NC and we are adding a large data center to an interior space on the top floor of this building. In following the Appendix G guidelines, I have made all of the constructions in my baseline model mimic the existing building. However, this new data center portion was not previously there and the extremely high loads are being transferred to other adjacent spaces and throwing other systems way out of whack.
How would you handle these baseline interior constructions (walls/floors) specifically in the spaces surrounding the new data center?
Thanks,
Ross

Really, no responses out there? I must say I am a bit surprised. Just wondered if anyone has tried to take credit in their models for insulating interior partitions that envelope spaces with high density loads such as data centers.

Can't see that this would be a problem is properly justified. You'll have to show that the industry norm does not insulate server rooms. As this is not directly covered in ASHRAE it would mean an exceptional calculation method.
