I know there is a must in the rating system variations; but is there any chance in C&S to exclude areas that are defined as regularly occupied? There is an unanswered question here on circulation space near the core; and in my project there are retail stores on ground floor with their show windows opening to pedestrian areas. The show tenants will not want to use glare controls when these are blocking their shop front from being seen.

When I think somewhat more about this the requirements for glare control could make this credit virtually impossible to achieve in a lot of buildings in Europe / Germany; where you've often got retail space /cafes in the groundlevel of office buildings. Has this requirement ever been questioned? I fully agree that a glare control is important, but there are some occupancy types and situations where this doesn't work very well.

Hi Jens,
I have the same question. Is there any update that includes or excludes circulation corridors in daylight calculation for CS project?
It will be very helpful. Cheers!

Typically you would note in the Tenant Guidelines that to in order for the tenant to achieve LEED Certification they would need to include the glare devices. Its just a guideline and not binding like a tenant lease agreement.
I have not seen any LI's or any other alternative compliance methods in LEED for Retail in regards to the glare control devices. Not every project can earn every credit and its just one of those instances. Maybe if more project attempt it and question it, then maybe some type of LI would be issued. I would say that retail spaces could use fixed shading devices that is currently acceptable in v3 instead of having to have movable ones.
Nuttanee, dedicated circulation corridors may be excluded. Only circulation areas in open office layouts need to be included. But a dedicated hallway, corridor can be excluded. Are you wondering about corridors noted in proposed lauyouts used when doing the daylight and views calcs?
