We are building a parking structure to support the LEED project building and providing EV chargers. Must the EV chargers be included in our LEED energy model? We are providing PV panels to provide renewable energy for both building energy use and the EV chargers.
Thanks in advance.

Yes. All energy use in and associated with the project must be included.

Follow up question - do we include all EV chargers being occupied 100% of business hours, or can we take a 75% utilization rate if we expect that not all will be occupied? Should we assume 8 hour charge per day?
Thanks

You could apply a diversity. Regarding the number of charge hours/day - that would depend on the charger. Some would draw a charge all day, some would be charged in less than that. Also depends on the level of charge the vehicle has when it starts charging. I would suggest that you seek to find some studies on EV charger operation so you could make some more informed assumptions. Sounds like you have a bit of a research project. Let us know what you find.

Marcus, what do you mean by applying a diversity?
Thanks, I think we are using the 4-hour chargers so we would assume they are used twice per day at 4 hours each per charge.

A diversity is the fraction of the total within each hour in an energy modeling schedule. Your 75% is a diversity.

Based on this LEED interpration, I would say that you can exclude them.
