EV also used as Low-E Preferred parking stall?

We have a project using an existing parking lot closest to our building and building a new parking lot as well. There is already an existing charging station near the ADA spots (aka in a preferred location), however we cannot meet the credit requirements with this charging station and cannot add any additional ones. Therefore, the owner wants to provide preferred parking for Low-e vehicles.

My questions are:

1. Can the EV spot remain even though we aren't using it to meet the credit requirements and as a consequence have to place of a Low-E preferred spot further from the entrance ? OR

2. Can the EV spot ALSO be used as a Low-E preferred spot (ie for charging or for a low-e car)?

Hi Jill, Look at LEED Interpretation 10410. Basically, you can count the EV spot as a preferred parking space and it's weighted so it counts as more than one space when you're calculating your total number of preferred parking spaces.
