EPIC & Autodesk Forma

Friends of EPIC –

Hey, everyone. As some of you might have heard, we’ve been working for a while with Autodesk to get c.scale (the data model behind EPIC) built into Forma – Autodesk’s AI-powered planning tool. Forma is packaged within Autodesk’s AEC collection and most firms using Revit should already have access. This integration is soft-launching as a native capability (i.e. no additional cost) within Forma next week after Autodesk University!

EPIC has obvious limitations –it’s difficult to integrate into existing workflows (which are typically already in the Autodesk ecosystem). And there’s no good graphic interface to visualize the effects of design decisions on whole life carbon. EPIC will continue its life as a free tool with regular updates – but we also hope that offering our data model and optioneering approach within Forma can supercharge climate action, getting us all a little closer to our goal of setting a path to zero at the beginning of every project by every firm.

If you want to sign up for the beta test, please fill out this form and indicate “existing EPIC user” in the comment field (this should get you prioritized in the beta). Feel free to forward this around to other EPIC users in your firm and beyond.

Thanks for your support along the way, apologies for the mass email, and looking forward to hearing your feedback in the Autodesk review sessions!

Hi Patricia, This is amazing! Can we share the beta test sign-up link (and cheat code) with other EPIC & Forma users? Thanks, Jeremy Jeremy Shiman, AIA, LEED AP BD+C Associate, Project Architect Pronouns: he/him/his WRNS STUDIO San Francisco | Honolulu | New York | Seattle 212.405.2441 D 26 Broadway #808 | New York, NY 10004 www.wrnsstudio.com

This is really exciting! Go EHDD!! We have been using Forma at Lake|Flato for a while now and look forward to this integration. We even included some thermal comfort, wind, and micro-climate results in our Well Building report for our office. If you want to learn more about the capabilities of Forma, you might want to check out the new video series I created on YouTube. The first one is posted, and the second will be up soon. Full disclosure... Autodesk commissioned me to create this series, but I have creative control of the content. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsLVaxWkEowJDR9wPb4I2GC0fc3PVszUQ

Hi Patricia,  I filled out that form, but I got a reply at the end that said I didn't qualify to participate in the beta. I am leading our embodied carbon efforts at DLR Group. We're using EPIC for a significant number of project early phase comparisons right now, and I would love to get access to this beta test. Thanks!

Hi Jeremy - Please share widely! We'd love to get as many people testing the beta as possible.  Hi Scott - I will reachout to Jack and see if I can figure out what is going on there! Thanks for letting me know of the problem!

Hi again Scott! If you send me an email with a scereenshot of the response, I can connect you with Jack and Autodesk to sort it out!
