We have a tenant fit out of a single floor in an 8 story building. The new design is an energy efficient chilled beam system, and the central plant remains unchanged. Do I need to include the other 7 floors as conditioned space, and how much detail must be included since it's not reasonable to obtain drawings for these other floors?

The Reference Guide explains what you need to do.
You will need to model the whole building and place the properer loads on the central plant. The level of detail should accurately reflect the loads on those other floors.

Thanks a lot Marcus,
But to be clear, the final energy savings calculations need not include energy consumed by the other floors, correct? Their inclusion in the energy simulation is mainly for correct loading of the central plant?

I have another question about energy modeling. What type of documentation we need to submit for CI? I see the reference guide only mentioned about energy use beakdown, peak demand and cost. Is there any other standard table such as 1.4 for NC to fill out? Thanks

The documentation requirements are primarily contained within the credit form. You can download them from the USGBC web site. The Reference Guide will typically provide examples.

Hi Marcus,
I was wondering if you had any experience with LEED Interpretation #10412 as related to tenant level energy simulations. For past projects, I have modeled the whole building per your earlier comments, but it would seem from this interpretation that a pro-rated approach is acceptable. Also, do you know if the approach has changed for LEED v4 CI projects?

I do not have any experience with that method but it certainly makes some sense. I am not sure about v4. I would have to do some digging.
