CI-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

EAp2 Equipment Motors

For a LEED CI project that includes a fitness center, do you count the motors in the treadmills and cross trainers? No fitness equipment I have found is Energy Star rated. These loads can be significant. Each treadmill has a 3hp motor.

EA prereq #2 addresses "ENERGY STAR qualified equipment". If ENERGY STAR fitness equipment is not available for purchase , then yes you can exclude them. Be prepared to submit a narrative explaining why you excluded them.
