According to the Reference Guide, the strategy used to earn an Innovation point must be comprehensive. LEED defines this as a strategy that applies to the entire project building and has at least two components. Single products or technologies are not eligible for an Innovation credit. Additionally, the Innovation strategy must demonstrate quantitative improvement in environmental performance by establishing a baseline of standard performance, and measuring against that benchmark.
It sounds like this strategy is a single technology, therefore it would not be eligible for an Innovation credit, unless there was another component incorporated in the innovation strategy.
