Draft Contractor Contractor Commitment for review before Summit

Hello all,

Thank you so much for your work on the Contractor Commitment. In preparation for the Summit, we've pulled all of the sections together into one cohesive document. We would like to invite everyone in the SCL network to review and comment on this latest draft so that we can compile comments before Wednesday and make the most of our time together. Please focus your review on the content in the guidelines; the good, better, best structure and instructions for using the Contractor Commitment were decided by the steering committe and subgroup leaders. If you are not attending the Summit, this will be your last chance to suggest substantive changes before we vote to approve the Contractor Commitment for launch.

Speaking of voting, here's the process that the steering committee has approved for us to move the Contractor Commitment forward.

  1. All SCL members are invited to comment on the draft before the Summit, regardless of whether you are attending the Summit. (That's what we're doing now!)
  2. At the Summit, we'll break out into groups to review the comments and propose final changes.
  3. On the final day of the Summit, we'll vote on a draft that includes the proposed changes with the goal of achieving consent from 51% of all SCL members (21 people) to launch. Consent will mean that you might not agree with everything in the Contractor Commitment, or intend for your company to sign on, but that it's good enough to launch publicly.
  4. If we can't obtain 51% consent at the Summit, we'll send out a tracked changes version of the Commitment to those who didn't attend the Summit to see if we can rally some more votes.

We've spent two years on this initiative and thanks to the great work of the subgroups, it is looking really slick. But it was important to the steering committee that the Contractor Commitment be something that a simple majority of our network believes is a good resource for the industry. So please take a look and flag anything that might stand in your way voting 'aye' for launch!
