CS-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

Doubt about climatic zone outside US

Hi all We work on a office project at Marseille France with the Leed CS 2009 ; According to - Table B-3 International Climate Zones Ashrae 90.1 2007 : Marseille / France is located in zone 4 - § B2 Major climate type definitions Ashrae 90.1 2007 : The climate is not marine, not dry, so it's Moist (A) - Table B-4 International Climate Zones Ashrae 90.1 2007 : The climatic zone would be 3C (HDD1600 CDD2300) So, we hesitate between climate 4A et 3C which makes a big difference for the energy simulation / option1. Could you help? Thanks

Since Table B-3 indicates climate zone 4 you would need to provide a thorough justification for using a different climate zone. Table B-3 is based on the HDD/CDD data that ASHRAE uses so I would think you would have a hard time justifying the use of a different set of HDD/CDD data but perhaps I am missing some information.

Thanks Marcus for your reply, Sorry, I was discussing the point in SI unit. With IP unit : Table D-3 ashrae 90.1-2007 indicates HDD65=3194 and CDD50=3933 Table B-4 gives a climate zone 3C Table B-3 indicates climate zone 4 still doubting Thanks

The CDD/HDD from Table D-3 also qualify in Table B-4 under climate zone 4A and 4B. Since it does not qualify as marine it cannot be 3C so it must be 4A.
