NC-2009 SSc4.2:Alternative Transportation—Bicycle Storage and Changing Rooms

dorm bike storage

Is it acceptable to pursue bike storage on the premise that the secured, covered storage is the dorm/apartment. As stated in previous threads, the verbiage on residential bike storage is vague.

We've seen apartments with utility closets in the units accepted as bike storage when there was adequate space to store a bike. If the dorm rooms or apartments are small, a standard closet might not be acceptable. It's a judgment call. If there is a closet specifically designed to hold a bike with adequate clearances, hanging rack, possibly more durable surfaces, that might work for very compact apartments. Another option might be a shared bike closet on each floor.
