CI-2009 EAp3:Fundamental Refrigerant Management

District Energy Systems (DES) in LEED CI

Hi, I am working on LEED CI EAp3, and we have central chiller units out of project boundary. I saw the article saying "DES having no effect on any LEED CI EA prerequisite or credit". Does that mean we can't apply DES to our project? Please provide me advice on this. Thanks in advance,

Hi James, For LEED-CI, this prerequisite only includes equipment within the tenant scope, so the central chiller units would not need to be included. LEED Interpretations 1703 and 5029 address this issue for cases when the equipment is installed on behalf of the tenant and when the equipment is just an existing part of the base building.
