NC-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

District Cooling for Humidity Control

I am working in a project that has no heating or cooling system, therefore I used the same HVAC system as in the proposed model (system #4: PSZ-HP). The reviewers found that the humidity levels are too high inside the building, therefore the prerequisite IEQ P1 was not achieved. To solve this the owners of the building decided to use chilled water from a nearby ice storage facility. The idea is to include an air handling unit with cooling and heating coils, and use the chilled water only to decrease the humidity of the entering air. What I told them is that with this new system I would have to change both baseline and proposed models an use the guidelines for district cooling. My question is if it is possible to justify that this new system will only be used to control the humidity and will not affect the cooling, so that I don't have to modify the energy modeling. Since it affects the project's energy consumption it must be modeled.

So do you suggest I should change both baseline and proposed models and use the guidelines for modeling with district cooling?
