Desk Fan Fire Safety

Has anyone run into the issue of fire marshall not allowing desk fans due to potential fire hazard? If so, what was the solution?

Plug-in space heaters can also meet the credit intent, although I think that might be going in the wrong direction with the fire marshall.  Other options could be supply diffusers that are operable to building occupants (underfloor air distribution systems) OR access to operable exterior windows. I have tried to achieve thermal comfort control with employer supplied coats/jackets/hats in cold storage space however GBCI would not accept this approach.  Would be curious to learn of other comfort control methods allowed by GBCI.
