In a new build which is undergoing certification in CS and CI simultaneously; what person is the Design Engineer? The person who has to sign in EAp2? This i a CI project, it can’t be the Architect or the Structural Engineer for the base building right? We thought it was the Interior Designer, but got this denied.

The design engineer is the person who stamps the drawings for the project associated with their design. So it depends on your CI scope of work. Was there any HVAC work? Lighting? Plumbing? Who did those designs?

All HVAC, electricity and plumbing etc was done in the base building. The only thing we have included in the tenants scope of work were the lighting controls (daylighting controls and motion sensors etc). The tenant has also chosen a lot of the lighting fixtures. So would the lighting designer be the right person then? Since there is no title “Lighting designer”, we have called him “MEP engineer”. Should I change his title to “Design engineer” then? The titles one can choose from on LEED Online very often do not fit how we divide up the work between the different disciplines here.
Thanks for helping me interpret this!

MEP Engineer should work fine.
