Hi all,
I hope this is the correct forum for my question (Tristan, please redirect me, if not).
We have instances where changes are made that would impact an already "approved" credit - sometimes positively, sometimes not.
We also understand that each is only reviewed twice - preliminary and final.
What is the process for resubmitting a credit after final review - is this considered an appeal?
Thanks!

In a split review you are supposed to confirm that for all the the "approved" design credits nothing changed during construction to affect the credit. If something did change then you are supposed to revise and resubmit the credit. That credit will get a third review in the Construction Preliminary stage. This is the only non-appeal way to get a third formal review.
If a credit was denied after two reviews it requires an appeal. If you think the reviewer is in error based on the information they can see (you can't provide new information/documentation) then you can contact GBCI with a project team inquiry..

Hi Marcus, a bit related general question for this inquiry:
How many rounds of appeals does GBCI allow for certain credits/prereqs?

As many rounds as you are willing to pay for I suppose. That said I have not seem anyone go beyond a second appeal. GBCI tries very hard to make a final determination by then.

Since this post is so old I am checking on whether the response is still valid. I have a similar situation for LEED v4 Electric Vehicles credit which chose to upgrade to the v4.1 option and document for day 1 EV. The credit was approved during Design Review, but the owner's request has since changed to future EV. Can I resubmit documentation with this other option and still receive credit?

If you have not submitted your construction review you can change this credit as a part of that review. This should not require any sort of appeal. Projects are supposed to revisit credits tentatively approved in the design review to make sure nothing changed during construction to affect any particular credit.

I accepted a final C&S design review but have found out the energy team wants to have the Optimizing Energy credit revaluated based on changes in lighting as actually installed by tenants. We have not filed for construction review as of yet. However, the APPEAL button disappears when final design review is accepted. Next steps to get to an appeal? Timing? Now...before construction review submittal?

Hey Kath. Technically you are supposed to report on any changes that occurred during construction and modify the anticipated design credits accordingly. So you shoul be able to resubmit this in the C Prelim phase without an appeal. Make sure to tell them that you are submitting this again due to changes during construction. You will only get one more review phase, not two. If you need a second that would require an appeal. Not sure how you reactivate the credit in LEED Online, might have to reach out to GBCI to do so.

To reopen the credit in construction prelim, click the "awarded" drop down and you'll see an "open to update" option.
