Hi Elyse,
Were you able to confirm a definitive answer on this? I would think that you could pursue the credit via a DES cooling tower but I wasn't able to find published documentation from USGBC confirming this.

I received the following answer from CaGBC : «Oui, les tours de refroidissement du Système énergétique de quartier peuvent être utilisées pour documenter le crédit GEEc - Utilisation de l’eau de tour de refroidissement (WEc Cooling Tower Water) si elles font partie intégrante des systèmes de refroidissement desservant le projet du bâtiment. Pour obtenir ce crédit, l’équipe de projet devra démontrer que les tours de refroidissement du DES répondent aux critères requis. Veuillez noter que toutes les tours de refroidissement du DES doivent être incluses dans la documentation du crédit et que le DES doit être documentée de manière uniforme pour tous les crédits applicables au projet»
That we can translate as : Yes, DES cooling towers can be used to document WEc - Cooling Tower Water use credit if they are an integral part of cooling systems serving the building project. To obtain this credit, project team must demonstrate that the DES cooling towers meet the required criteria. Please note that all DES cooling towers must be included in the credit documentation and that the DES must be documented in a consistent manner for all credits applicable to the project.
