Table G3.1.1A states that buildings that are “…eligible for more than one baseline system type should use the predominant condition to determine the system type for the entire building except as noted in Exception a to G3.1.1.” The exception says to “Use additional system type(s) for nonpredominant conditions (i.e., residential/nonresidential or heating source) if those conditions apply to more than 20,000 ft2 of conditioned floor area.” With a large building housing both residential and office where both are well over 20,000 ft2, can it be modeled as two separate space with different baseline system AND different heat sources? For example, can the residential portion use a baseline of PTAC’s with gas heat while the office portion uses a baseline of chilled water VAV with electric heat?
