Decon(struction) Hackathon!!! April 28th 3-5pm ET (virtual)

Sign up now to roll up your sleeves and have fun solving real problems! April 28 from 3-5pm ET

DESIGNING FOR DECONSTRUCTION

Building deconstruction, or disassembly, is a critical strategy for carbon reduction, minimizing waste & contributing to a circular economy, yet remains a serious challenge for many reasons.

Many organizations, design & construction firms and manufacturers have begun to explore this issue and work together to find solutions, but market transformation will take time. We want to accelerate this change wherever we can and this hackathon is one opportunity to make things a little easier for all of us in the design community!

Why should design firms individually spend time ("reinventing the wheel"), developing new details for typical assemblies that can be more easily deconstructed - when we can all spend some time together, knock out a first pass and share the results so that we can all benefit?!

Sign up now to join us for a couple of hours - Let's really dive in, think together, design and produce something of value that can help move the industry forward and make a serious dent in our carbon problem!

The outputs of this hackathon will be publicly available on a live wiki page afterward for continued development, comment, dialogue and use of the entire community (with legal disclaimers, of course)! (architects, builders, spec writers...all welcome!)

BuildingGreen (for the AIA) produced a great guide that lays the foundation of the issues and context. Prior to the event, we will send out a list of other resources on the topic and instructions for how to prepare for this session! We will be using Miro which does not require registration and is super easy to use, but you might want to check it out ahead of time.

Pass it on to your colleagues and let's see how many great brains we can connect to this effort!

The Eventbrite sign-up is here!
