NC-2009 IEQc8.1:Daylight and Views—Daylight

Daylighting in Residential Building

Dear All, What are the requirements of daylighting in a residential building? Specifically: (1) Are bedrooms included in the calculations? The Reference Guide states that regularly occupied spaces in residential buildings are all living and family rooms, but does not say that bedrooms are excluded. (2) Are manual curtains acceptable for glare control? (3) At what height should the grid be set for the simulation calculations?

Omer, Here are my opinions: 1. Yes, please check CIR dated 12/23/2002 ID# 6060 2. Yes 3. For most cases, it would be 2'-6" (table height) per guideline. Although in certain cases, you may use higher or lower number if you have justification.
