The C2C certificates are ussually valid for 1.5 or 2 years, some will come to an end before the end of the project and maybe before the products are purchased. I couldn't find anywhere in the guide if it is enough if the product C2C certificate is valid after project registration? or if USGBC requires a specific timing for the certificate? Does anyone have insight on this?

Hi Charline,
I am unaware of any ruling that approves C2C claims that expire prior to date of project product purchase (active manufacturing period), but would love to know if this is out there! In absence of this, I have been erring on the side of caution. When I have found C2C certifications that either have already expired or will before product purchase and/or construction completion, I have been reaching out to the manf to verify if they are in the process of renewing them. Often, they are... but sometimes they aren't. I have encountered this latter scenario on occasion, which raises questions about whether the manufacturing process has changed and would no longer qualify or if perhaps the Manf just chose not to recertify for other reasons.

Hi there, I'm just wondering if there has been official guidance regarding this topic yet?

Hey there,
I found the following in the BD+C reference guide under the Calculations, Material Ingredient Reporting section:
"....Product certification claims from manufacturers’ websites should always be verifed against this registry because they may be out-of-date...."
I think this reinforces the idea that the certification should be current....to be safe, a particular certification should be current at least by the time the product was shipped to the project site for installation.
