Credit Potential for Automated, Non-Hazardous Process Water Treatment Skid (BD+C: Data Centers)

Hi everyone,

Looking for feedback on the total credit potential for an automated, plug-and-play process water treatment skid on a project pursuing LEED v4 BD+C: Data Centers. It serves as a non-hazardous green alternative to conventional liquid acid and chemical biocide dosing.

Proven Field Results (From Recent Site Expansion):

  • Water & Permitting (WE): Increased CoC from 3 to 5 (expecting equal or better on new builds). The blowdown discharge is completely free of hazardous leftovers (no sulfates, chlorides, or biocide residuals), making it clean to discharge for easy environmental permitting.
  • Energy (EA): Yielded a +2% heat exchanger efficiency gain via scale and biofilm prevention (expecting at least the same or better on a new installation).
  • Innovation (IN): Completely eliminates bulk hazardous liquid chemical storage (acids and liquid biocides) on-site.
  • Modularization (MR): Delivered as a pre-commissioned, off-site manufactured skid.

Questions:

  1. Total Yield: What is a realistic aggregate point estimate across WE, EA, IN, and MR for a system like this?
  2. Effluent Reuse: Can this clean, chemical-free blowdown be credited directly under Outdoor/Indoor Water Use Reduction without pre-treatment?
  3. Submittal Precedents: Any CIR tips for documenting Green Chemistry (IN) or heat transfer gains under ASHRAE Standard 90.4 (EA)?

Thanks for your insights!
