NC-v4.1 EQc2:Low-Emitting Materials

Credit compliance types (cost vs surface area) and SIPs

Hi everyone,

I have two credit related questions. Can we alternate compliance types (surface area, cost, volume, etc) depending on the material category? For example, would it be permissible if we use surface area for insulation and cost for all other categories? In other words, we wouldn't have to apply one compliance type to all of the material categories?

Also, if a product contains multiple different materials such as a structural insulated panel, does it need to be included in all applicable categories (In the case of a SIP, insulation, composite wood, and wall panels) or can it be included in one category of our choosing?

Thanks in advance!

Your first question: You can use different compliance paths for each catergory in the LEM calculator. Your second question: I was not successful including SIP (in this case they were Hunter panels) in the LEM calculator after first including them in insulation for the preliminary review and composite wood for the final review.

Regarding products comprising different types of materials, here's what the Reference Manual says "Walls, ceilings, and flooring are defined as building interior products; each layer of the assembly, including paints, coatings, adhesives, and sealants, must be evaluated for compliance. Insulation is tracked separately."
Good luck!
