I am working on a university campus project which includes over twelve buildings and a dormitories building, now regarding SSC4.2 credit we have provided the required number of bicycle racks for each BUILDING , the project lies in Egypt where we don't have snow nor rain , so for the bicycle racks provided for the dormitories building , should it be covered ? if yes, can trees count as a natural shed ?

Hi Soha, yes, as Kristina mentions below, bike storage is required to be covered for residential projects. Given your project location I'd agree that reaching out to GBCI to confirm acceptable "covered" strategies is appropriate. Best of luck!

Marilyn - that is incorrect. Residential projects are required to provide covered bicycle storage (NC - Case 2). Dormitory facilities would be held to that residential requirement.
Soha - In your type of climate, I could see them arguing that providing shading is still important even if you don't really deal with snow/rain. I would suggest reaching out to GBCI to see if they would be willing to accept a tree/trellis-type structure for your type of location.
