NC-v4 SSc4:Rainwater management

correction for online reference guide

I have subscribed to access for the online v4 Reference Guide, and I noticed a couple of mistakes in the example for this credit. I'm not sure how to provide feedback to USGBC regarding this, so I thought I'd try posting it here. In the Examples section, the Horton's equation is given as: Ft = fmin + (fmax – fmin) e- k t The "-kt" term is an exponent of 'e', but that does not come out clearly with single-line text. I suggest typing it as: Ft = fmin + (fmax – fmin) e^- k t The "^" is standard notation for an exponent in single line text. Also, the weighted area calculation shown soon thereafter (and on page 191) of the v4 Reference Guide .pdf document is incorrect. It reads: Runoff site = {(Runoff roof – A roof) + (Runoff pavement – A pavement) + (Runoff pervious – A pervious)} / A site But it should read: Runoff site = {(Runoff roof * A roof) + (Runoff pavement * A pavement) + (Runoff pervious * A pervious)} / A site Weighted averages should have PRODUCTs in the numerator, not DIFFERENCES (multiply, don't subtract). I hope this helps.

Lyle, please contact me offline. We removed all of the above from the ND ref guide (not yet published). I will be working on a wholesale review of what is published, starting soon. Id love to have your input.

Hi Lyle, Thank you for your comments. We are currently editing the Rainwater Management reference guide sections, and will be working on the example specifically.

Good afternoon, I also started calculating the runoff volume for different hardscape surfaces and when will we get the final version of the calculations discussed above? And also runoff volume must be expressed in mm only or in m3/s as it is given on page 188 of the guide. Thanks in advance

Hello, The addenda reflecting updated calculations and guidance in the Reference Guide were published on October 1, 2014. See addenda #100001947 through #100001957 in the LEED Addenda Database: http://www.usgbc.org/leed-interpretations
