I am a new LEED AP and working on my first project, so this is a pretty basic question. Is there a template available that I could use to develop my construction waste management plan? I appreciate any suggestions!

Denise, I have a sample Construction Waste Management Plan that will get you started that is found in my publication the How-To Guide to LEED Certification, available on our web site www.leedmanagement.com. Since it was written for an educational Clean Energy Grant, the handbook is available for free to help project teams with the practical application of LEED.
Be sure to customize the CWM Plan for your project. It is found in the first Appendix of the online version just past page 55. While the guide was written for LEED v2.2 and has not been updated yet for v2009, the CWM Plan should still be applicable for either version.
