Conor McGuire Intro

I'm the Director of Sustainability at Columbia Construction.  We're headquartered in the Boston area and primarily work in the Northeast.  Along with the typical challenges of projects and evolving rating systems, I'm looking forward to learning and sharing strategies for corporate sustainability progress.

This past year I'm proud to have added 4 EV charging stations that Columbia Employees can use for free as a workplace benefit, and two 100% BEV Fleet vehicles, one of which is shared across the company so that we can better understand how EVs & charging stations interact with out clients' buildings and, of course, reduce CO2 emissions.

I'm a father of 2 little boys (almost 5yo and almost 1yo) and husband to an OT.  I'm currently reading "Principles" by Ray Dalio and I'd recommend it if you like to read non-fiction.  I read a lot and would be interested in hearing your recommendations, work related or not.  Onward!

I am the Sustainability Program Manager for Sellen Construction in Seattle, WA where we build healthcare, education, office buildings, museums, historical renovations, and unique structures like sculpture parks and the “spheres” that have been in the news lately. My role blends environmental regulatory compliance, sustainability in field operations and green building certifications. I grew up bucking hay and building houses in Michigan. I studied architecture, as anyone of the Brady Bunch era was apt to do. I currently live with my wife north of Seattle, where we are scheming to remodel our tiny house. I am hoping to squeeze in cross laminated timber and other healthy materials. My green-building interests are varied. They include zero waste, healthy and low-carbon building materials, Prevention through Design, air quality (indoor and site), clean water (zero runoff), energy and water conservation in field operations, and reducing ghg emissions. I volunteer with organizations focussed on high-performance buildings, greening sea/air port operations, advising federal and state regulators, implenting realistic carbon policy statewide, to groups developing temporary housing after disasters. Looking forward to collaborating with all of you!
