Hello! I have a CI project where the tenant occupies multiple contiguous floors. We will calculate WEp1/c1 to include base building fixtures so we can maximize our percentage of water savings. The base building uses a rainwater collection system for all flush fixtures. This system conserves approximately 35% of water consumption as compared to the baseline case, and 60%+ when water saving fixtures are used.
Just looking for confirmation that the tenant can use the same calculations to our advantage when calculating potable water use for our flush fixtures and our application.
Thanks!

Hi Brian,
If it were my project, I would definitely claim the savings as it suggests under the credit, but not the prerequisite: "Water derived from alternative sources, such as captured rainwater, is not considered under this prerequisite but can be used to document additional savings in WE Credit Indoor Water Use Reduction." -pg 96
For clarity for the reviewers, definitely provide a brief narrative explaining your situation and calcs so that everything is apparent. GBCI reviewers have requested this of me whenever there's anything that is different from standard items/calcs they'd see in the calculator.

Thanks Emily - One more reality check, for the amount of reclaimed water used for flush fixtures, I assume I can use the pro-rata share of the total building. Do you think I should show the pro-rata by SF or by FTE?

I would probably do it by FTE for consistency with the normal calcs. I'm guessing you'd need the FTE info for the rest of the building, and would need to err on the worst case (conservative) side of things if there are any unknowns. I would probably put together your approach and formula for use in a short narrative and ask GBCI if your assumptions for calculating the savings is correct. I've done this on other credits before and it saved us a lot of time and anxiety when charting unknown territory.
