Concrete wash-out water

The company we hired to provide concrete washout containers RECYCLES the water, can this water recycling count towards LEED credit - if yes in what category - materials and resources? Thanks

Christine - I think that recycling this water is a commendable act and I enjoyed finding this EPA resource on BMPs for Concrete Washout - http://www.epa.gov/npdes/pubs/concretewashout.pdf, which discusses uses for this water. However, unless the recycled water is coming back to your job in the form of recycled water in a concrete batch (under MRc4) as an example, I don’t think you can take additional advantage of it within the regular LEED framework. Capturing the washout water should be part of SSp1. See Zero lot lines under the FAQs on SSp1 - http://www.leeduser.com/credit/NC-2009/SSp1. Here’s a couple of LEEDuser posts on the subject of waste water - http://www.leeduser.com/credit/NC-2009/MRc2?all-comments=true#comment-33309 and http://www.leeduser.com/credit/NC-2009/MRc2?all-comments=true#comment-34203.
