Comparison of EPDs for building materials

Hello everybody,

I would like to ask if the LEED Consultant undertakes comparison of EPDs between similar products of competitive companies regarding for example GWP total in order to choose the material with the lowest GWP total for his LEED project.

I think that in the future this comparison will exclude many building materials from the LEED projects, however I do not know how much mature and ready is the market right now. I suppose that now the existence of an EPD is adequate for the LEED project. Right?
