A warehouse / distribution center facility just bought a shuttle to transport employees to / from train station (more than 2 miles away.) We understand this doesn't meet the intent of SSc4.1, but it will reduce dependence on cars & encourage public transportation use. Could this be considered an Innovation credit?

I've used company-provided shuttles to achieve SSc4.1 numerous times. My most recent project was for a Platinum-certified factory which completed about 6 months ago. Its possible the criteria changed since then but I don't think so. You have to show that the shuttle accommodates a significant portion of the occupants. I provide all the data on the shuttle--number of seats, schedule, distances travelled, etc.

Hmmm... credit language is pretty strict about public transit station being within 2 miles from front door. This didn't concern your Reviewer for 6 pts of SSc4.1?
Per addendum 100001163 to the BD+C Reference Guide, dated 4/1/2012, point-to-point shuttles from the project site to a transit stop must travel within 2 miles of the project.
Still, hoping it could be worth 1 ID pt.

2 miles from the project site to a transit stop OR within 10 minutes from project to transit stop.
Our last project was more than 2 miles from a transit stop but within a 10 minute drive and therefore was approved by the LEED review team.
On a side note, 'private shuttle' requirements (as enforced by GBCI) have changed over the years. The "2 miles OR 10 minutes" have been consistently successful on our projects.
Hope this helps!
