Commissioned Dimmed Lighting Power Density

Hi,

A lighting design will be installed at a max Lighting Power Density (LPD) of 8W/m2. When the lighting system is commissioned it will achieve a LPD of 6W/m2 at the required lux level.

Can the commissioned LPD be used in the LEED Energy model?

and

Can the commissioned LPD be used to comply with the ASHRAE 90.1-2010 table 9.6.1?

It is not whether the system is commissioned at a particular value that matters. See Section 9.1.3 for possible exceptions. As I recall in the past if you want to justify a value lower than the maximum system wattage then you must demostrate that the system cannot be easily changed and that less than the maximum wattage meets the illumination needs of the space. Make sure to provide a thorough written justifiction for the reviewer.
