We are working a factory which has a small freezer room of 200 sf. How should we model this part? Can we just model the freezer room as a fixed process load (no actual cooling equipement similar to a refrigerator load)? Or do we have to model the HVAC system for this room with the set point of -20F?
if the latter case is correct, can we use the standard ASHRAE 90.1 for the baseline of envelope and HVAC inputs?
thanks

Model it as a small freezer similar to a walk-in refrigerator at a lower temperature. It will have a compressor, etc. Model it identically in the baseline. Do not model it as HVAC system. Baseline values from LEED for Retail could be used.

Thanks Marcus. Let say the compressor is 10 kW and the fan is 1 kW. The setup would be 11kW for this room and the schedule would be 24 hours with 60% of average power operation. This will be identical in both baseline and proposed. Am i correct?

The identical part is correct. Not sure I know enough to say if the modeling input is correct.

Thanks Marcus. I will try this approach and see the review result.

i think that ASHRAE Fundamentals give you a usage factor that you can apply to the freezer.
