Anyone have any guesses as to what the acceptable proximity is to meet this portion of the requirements?
"The raceway shall originate at the main service or subpanel and shall terminate into a listed cabinet, box or enclosure in close proximity to the proposed location of the EV space."
This just leaves things too vague and I can see this becoming a matter of opinion of whatever reviewer a project happens to get.

Hello Emily, typically your EV charging station will need to be relatively close to where your EV parking location is at. Most EV charging stations are designed where the charger and cord are within say 5 feet of the EV. "In Close Proximity" in my opinion is within ten feet of the EV being charged and typically closer. Hi Richard,
Thanks for responding. Maybe a little more context of my question would help. This particular statement came from the 'infrastructure' option of the credit. My (very limited) understanding of this statement is that they're describing the wiring of the power source that would supply the future charging station. I'm understanding your statement to apply more to the chargers, themselves, in which case it makes sense that the actual cord going to a vehicle would probably be 10' or less.
Any thoughts on just the supply power aspect? We're trying to figure out where we could locate this "cabinet" in a very small, open lot that's very visible on a corner lot without it being hideous. If we can mount it to the building and still be able to utilize it when it comes time to install the chargers, themselves, it's an easier sell.

Emily, the ancillary electrical equipment (safety disconnect switch) are required by NEC to be within 50' of the charging station I would discuss with your electrical engineer. Normally EVCS raceways are underground and stub up into the EVCS. The EVCS vendor should have recommendations as to the installation and layout of the equipment. Without having the full details it's hard to provide much direction .. hopefully this helps! Stay Safe n Healthy, Rich

Ah. Ok, thanks. We'll circle back with our electrical engineer.
