We just finished the design submittals of 2 projects in Jiangsu, China. Does ASHRAE set climate zone in China. In one review comment, review team suggested that we should choose Zone 3, however, in another, said that we need to provide confirmation that 3A is the applicable climate zone. How to confirm that? Thanks

Guì Xing Shi, In ASHRAE 90.1-2007, Normative Appendix B, it is stated that "For all international locations that are not listed either in Table B-2 or B-3, use Table B-4 and the Major Climate Type Definitions in Section B2 to determine both the climate zone letter and number." Table B-4 says that Thermal Criteria for Zone 3A is 4500 < CDD50°F < 6300. The Major Climate Type Definitions states the criteria for Moist (A), Dry (B) or Marine (C) types. I hope this helps.
