Hi there, should the building be certified by other references such as core and shell, before trying to achieve certification for CI? Thank you

Radwa, Certification under Core and Shell or other rating systems is not required for your fitout project to pursue LEED CI certification, but it will help you. In addition to having the sustainable strategies already in place (location, water saving fixtures, energy efficient envelope & equipment), you can earn 5 points for locating your project in a LEED certified building (under SS Credit 1).
