Hi,

I have a commercial building and its hot water system is provided by district steam. The district steam plan is CHP (combined heat and power) plant. I'm modeling for LEED V4.1 IDC. My questions are

  1. Can the Treatment of District or Campus Thermal Energy for Building Design and Construction in LEED v4 be applied to LEED V4.1 IDC?
  2. According to LEED V4.1 IDC guide for min energy performance- Central Plant or District Energy Systems: If claiming no credit for an upstream district energy system, apply ASHRAE 90.1-2016 requirements, which stipulate that each thermal energy source serving the building shall be modeled as purchased energy, with identical utility rates modeled in the baseline and proposed case.
    1. How about the efficiency? is the efficiency the same between the proposed and baseline model?
    2. If it's the same, is the efficiency based on the actual efficiencty from the steam plant? Do I account for any transmission loss during the distribution system? What to do if I don't have the plant efficiency from the provider?
    3. If not the same, then does the efficiency for the proposed model from the actual plant? does the efficiency for the baseline based on table G3.5.6 minimum efficiency from ASHREA 90.1-2016?

Thank you so much for your help.
