When calculating weighted carpool trips by regular building occupants using equation 2 from the reference guide, is "n" the number of passengers in the car? Should the equation read: "Weighted number of carpool trips by regular occupants = (Vehicle trips in 2-person carpool *1/2)) + (Vehicle trips in 3-person carpool *2/3) + (Vehicle trips in n-person carpool * (n-1)/n)"? By the calculation in the reference guide there's no way to account for carpools with more than 2 people in them.
Thanks for any help!

Hi Tom,
You are correct, "n" in Equation 2 is referencing the number of passengers in the carpool. There is a typo error in the reference guide and the calculation should read:
Weighted number of carpool trips by regular occupants = (Vehicle trips in a 2-person carpool * 1/2) + (Vehicle trips in a 3-person carpool * 2/3) + (Vehicle trips in "n"-person carpool * (n-1)/n)
The intent of this calculation is to give more credit to carpools with a greater number of passengers. Therefore, each additional person in the carpool increases the percentage of that trip that contributes towards 1 full alternative transportation trip.
Hope this helps!
