Hi all,
I have a two-part question on the 'diverse uses' part of this credit.
1 - For the "Community Anchor Uses" category, only commercial offices are listed as qualifying types. Can we count two different qualifying offices within our radius in this category, as we are allowed to count two for each of the other categories?
2 - Our project is right in the middle of a large, public university campus. Can we count their office buildings as "commercial" if they have administrative (or other) buildings that are not classrooms, labs, or otherwise involved with student activities?

Hi Emily,
Here are my thoughts:
1. There are two options for Community anchor uses: commercial offices and housing. I don't see why you can't count 2 large office buildings as part of your diverse use compliance path.
2. I also think admin buildings should count as office buildings, assuming they have more than 100 FTE.

Thanks, Kara. I saw questions about the housing in the forum, but hadn't noticed it had been updated after publication (looking at a PDF of the Reference Guide). That will help for sure, as they do have several large dorms within our radius.
I emailed LEED Coach for info about the admin buildings, too, but haven't heard back yet. I'll post the results here when received.

Hi Emily, I know it's been quite a while since you posted this but did you receive feedback from the LEED Coach about admin buildings? We're facing a similar issue on one of our campus projects and this approach sounds like a great option if it would be accepted

If I backtracked this posting to the correct project, we did get a response, though I couldn't find the exact email. I did find where I summarized the info with a coworker; according to the clarification, we could use administrative buildings of 100 occupants or more OR qualifying residential buildings OR a combo of the two to help meet the minimums needed. Our project ended up using the combo.
