Hello,
I was a LEED AP who elected the ID+C specialty. All of the projects I work on have been BD+C. For my next reporting period, can I change my specialty to BD+C without taking an exam?
Thank you

No. The only way for you to obtain the BD+C at this point would be through taking that specialty exam.

The AP exams (or at least large portions of them) are specific to the specialties. Therefore, you would need to take the exam specific to BD+C in order to gain that specialty.

I was in the same position. It didn't used to matter because any LEED AP credential worked for the Innovation point. Now, in LEED v4, the AP's specialty needs to match the kind of project you are working on. There was a grace period of a few years when they started the specialties, where you could change your specialty when you renewed. That is no longer a possibility. There are 2 LEED AP exams. You need to retake the second exam in the BD+C specialty. I did that earlier this year and now I have dual specialty, LEED AP BD+C & LEED AP ID+C.
