Calculating a Dome

We have a roof that consists of a flat roof with a dome. How do we calculate the dome area since some of the surface area is actually the "sides" of the dome. How much of the dome is considered "roof"? Do we look at it in plan view and use that SF or do we need to calculate the entire surface of the dome?

With a sloped roof you would count the actual roof area, not just what you see in the plan view. So I would say a dome should also be treated this way. I'm sure there's a quick way to get a reasonable calculation.
