NC-v4 EQc8:Quality views

Building with metallic mesh on its façade

Dear All,

We’re currently working on a LEED certification of a new office building that will be built in Portugal. This building will have large glazed areas in its façades, both to increase occupants well-being due to natural lighting levels but also to optimize artificial lighting energy use (dimming control). In order to control solar gains, these façades will include glazed areas with low SHGC and an outdoor metallic mesh for shading issues. This mesh will have an opening area of 40% (please see this link to see the type of device https://www.weavingarchitecture.com/en/applications/facade/).

Even though the purpose of this metallic mesh is for shading, it still allows occupants to have a clear vision of exterior areas, objects, fauna, etc. However, we would like to confirm that this solution can be used without any impact on Quality Views credit compliance. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks in advance.

Ricardo,
we have not attempted the View credit with a condition such as your.  My experience with LEED reviews suggests that you could make a case by showing photographs of the views through similar applications, (times of day, year, etc.)
Good luck! Let us know that works.

Ricardo,  have you attempted the Quality views credit? If yes, could you please share with us whether your solution was accepted?
I am facing the same situation as you on a School project, so any information would be really helpfull Thank you in advance
