Hello! I´m working on a soccer arena certification that has some underground areas like changing rooms, bathrooms, deposits, technical areas and some public stairs, should I submit those areas in the building footprint or just the above ground areas? Thanks for the help!

Kelly, your building footprint should only include the above-ground areas.

Thanks Kimberly,
I may not have worded my question with sufficient clarity. For estimating tenant spaces and construction areas, we usually include the area for stairwells and elevator shafts only for the floor on which the shaft originates. This is or was generally accepted industry practice (BOMA excludes all shaft openings from tenant areas, Construction estimating usually excludes all floor openings of measurable size).
The specific question I meant to ask was whether or not you include such open shaft areas for each floor or only those levels for which there is an closure at the bottom of the shaft opening?

Gary, I think the approach you mentioned makes sense.
