EBOM-2009 MRc2:Sustainable Purchasing—Durable Goods

Bike Rack?

Hello, I have read to Reference Guide EMOB 2009 and cannot decide if a bike rack that will be permanently installed on the exterior of the building would comply here? I would hope as it supports Alternative Commuting. Your thoughts? Thanks, Michelle

Hi Michelle, I agree this is a tough one and it's not totally clear if bike racks are considered a durable good. I recommend including the purchase in your calculations and letting GBCI decide if it qualifies or not. But, since it's not 100% guaranteed that racks will count, you should probably submit the credit with enough compliant purchases to meet the MRc2 threshold in case GBCI ends up asking you to remove that purchase from the calculations.
