Bicycle Network

Hello! I have a project in a small town where most of the people move arround in bikes but there are no bicycle networks, it´s just not necesary because of the small transit and density. May I still apply for this credit or not? Thanks!

Hi Agustina, since the bicycle network is part of the credit requirements, my assumption is this could be a tough sell to GBCI. Typically the response they offer in these cases is "not every credit is a good fit for every project." However, if you feel strongly that your project still meets the credit intent, you can always contact them and make your case. CIR's are always options too but I might suggest reaching out to them first to gauge the likelihood of them approving a CIR. You can set up a call with a Technical Specialist directly and walk them through your project case. Good luck!

I would concur with Marilyn. This wouldn't be the first time where I've heard someone in a smaller-sized transit-friendly city or town say that the LEED v4 requirements aren't a good fit.

Thanks so much Marilyn and Tristan, I agree, happens with some v4 credits that are a bit difficult to comply for smaller sized cities.

You should review the definition of a Bike Network in the Glossary section of the online reference guide. For example, roadways with a posted speed limit of 25 mph or less qualify as a Bike Network as do 8' wide off street bike paths and trails.
