Best Practice checklist project phases

On LEEDuser we divide checklists into multiple project phases. Specifically:

  • Before the performance period
  • Construction
  • Construction documents
  • Design development
  • During the performance period
  • Operations & maintenance
  • Pre-design
  • Schematic design

How many of these phases are relevant for BIT best practices?

Note that we also classify checklist items as follows:

  • Action steps
  • Best practices
  • Cost tip
  • Hot tip

See https://dev-bituser.pantheonsite.io/best-practice/energy-audit-planning#tab-checklists for an example.

(If you're wondering about the weird checklist items, it's because I got bored with using Lorem Ipsum and instead used Riker Ipsum.)

I'd love for Shane and others to weigh in on this...for the BP content I've been drafting, I've struggled to come up with checklist items that are distinct from the other content. I think this makes sense since we are trying to be very on point around implementation steps in the BP criteria. So, my tentative take is that we may not need the "checklist" content as it exists on LEEDuser. Others?

I think there are fewer phases for BIT -pre-program -planning -implementation -operations and maintenance -evaluation To me once in planning the cycles are repetitive and iterative. Evaluation leads to new planning, etc. Jenny, I think these, or variation thereof, would cover the vast majority of the programming for each BP. Any reactions? M. Andrea, Shane, Dan and I discussed on Friday, and we agreed that we _do not_ need a dedicate tab for checklist content. There might be some BPs for which a checklist or two will become handy, but we'd like to position that content within the Implementation Toolkit.  Make sense?

Can I push back on your decision to remove the dedicated tab for checklist content?  The Implementation Toolkit tab is already fairly crowded, and I'm concerned that adding the checklist would further complicate that section. Note that we can hide the checklist tab for BPs that don't have one.   I think it will be easier to decide once we have a complete Best Practice to input and format, so perhaps we can postpone the final decision until then?

I’m guessing the majority (maybe all) BPs would not end up with any content for this tab. But, if the Implementation Toolkit tab is congested, maybe there’s a consistent subcategory within there that would make more sense than Checklists for its own tab. I’d suggest either the “Sample Documentation” or “Online Resources” will have content for all of the BPs and would be good candidates. Good thought! We can figure this out as more of the BP content gets finalized.
