Our Proposed project (LEED 2009 NC) has a hybrid service hot water system that uses a water-source heat pump as the primary hot water generator and has a heat exchanger as a backup downstream of the heat pump. The heat exchanger source is hot water from a district heat gas-fired boiler. How do we model the baseline system? Is it either electric or gas, or should we model the same components as in the Proposed but use the performance requirements from Appendix G, Table 7.8? Thank you for any guidance!
