NC-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

Baseline HVAC DCV Sequence

When the baseline system is required to have DCV, how should it be controlled. I'm not aware of any sections that details how the controls should work when it is implemented for the baseline. Should it be two stage where it forces the zone to max flow first and then opens the damper or just modulate the damper based on zone CO2? Also, i saw in another string that it's recommended to place zones requiring DCV on their on system. How do I document that to the reviewer since there is no exception?

It should be modeled in the baseline based on the occupancy. Some software converts the occupancy schedule to C02, some just uses the schedule. During low periods of occupancy the ventilation must equal the minimum ventilation required per unit area. Modeling DCV as part of a Baseline system is a software issue. Some software can't model only part of a system with DCV so it is considered an acceptable work around to model as separate system to do so. Some software can model it correctly and there should not be a separate system.
